When it comes to airsoft rifles, there are different degrees of quality. First are your cheap spring powered rifles, then are the low quality-yet fully automatic electric guns, then finally you have the high powered AEGs. Pistols are no different in that there are degrees of quality.
A spring pistol will do just fine if you are plinking around in your backyard, and an electric pistol may seem cool. But if you want to join any large airsoft battles and want to have a really good sidearm, then you will want to look into CO2 blowback airsoft pistols.
Unlike spring pistols which need to be cocked prior to each shot, gas powered guns don’t need to be cocked manually- just pull the trigger and shoot again and again. And unlike cheap electric powered pistols, gas guns actually have power and can shoot over 200 fps. Gas guns are semi-automatic and also have a realistic blowback option whenever you pull the trigger.
Gas powered pistols are the best airsoft pistols around, but they will require more money and care. For CO2 powered pistols, you will need to keep a supply of CO2 cartridges/canisters in order to power your gun. There will usually be a separate chamber in the magazine where you insert the nozzle for the CO2.
There are many good CO2 guns available, but here are a few popular options. If you want to feel like you have a lot of power, then what better choice than a KWC Desert Eagle. It is a big beefy gun that shoots 300 fps and can even fire full-auto if that is your thing.
If you are more of a traditionalist then you could stick with the 1911. The KJW M1911 is full metal abercrombie , shoots around 300 fps, and has that classic deadly look to it. The WE M9 variants are also high powered blowback pistols that are effective and reliable pistols that only cost around $100.
One of my favorites is the TSD Tactical /Semi-Auto M9 Gas Blowback Airsoft Pistol. It is both powerful and accurate. The full metal version shoots 300 fps and holds 26 rounds in a clip. You can also get a cheaper plastic version for around 50 bucks but it isn’t as durable or good. Spend a little extra money know and save some money down the road when you don’t have to fix it.
